The International Award for Façade Engineering Excellence
Following the success of previous year’s competitions, the Society of Façade Engineering has expanded the categories for the Façade 2022 Design and Engineering Awards.
Project of the Year
There are seven separate Project of the Year categories as each of the below areas, excluding refurbishment, will be separated into the following awards entries.
2. International New Build
3. UK Innovation
4. International Innovation
5. UK Sustainability
6. international Sustainability
All entries must demonstrate excellence in technical design and/or research that has made a significant contribution to the discipline of façade engineering. Any façade contract practically complete between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2021 can enter. This category recognises the work and dedication of the full project team and can be entered by any or all members of that team.
Young Façade Engineer of the Year
This category recognises the next generation of façade engineers who have more than two and less than five years of related experience. The judges will be assessing the individual’s contributions to the industry and their organisation. The application should give examples of the impact the individual has had on their key project/s from performance, innovation, collaboration, quality and client satisfaction perspectives. The application should describe how the individual has advanced their knowledge across the range of façade design considerations.
Product of the Year
Façade product of the year award aims to recognise and celebrate originality and ingenuity of a product introduced in the façade industry in the last 3 years that solves a major problem or addresses a key issue.
The product could be a material, component, hardware, software or an equipment but essentially is associated with the façade design and engineering. We will be evaluating the entry for its contribution to innovation, sustainable design and ability to meet the current day demands such as modularity, low embodied carbon, ease of handling and installation, robust testing and certification, improving a said performance (entrant to define) and addressing the service life and maintenance issues. The entrant must indicate the evolution of the product to show the progression from concept to manufacturing.
Submissions in these categories must have been available to market by 1 January 2022, to qualify.
The shortlists for this award will be nominated by the Society of Façade Engineering (SFE) Board. Shortlists will be selected based on their contribution to the Façade industry.
